Storage!
I loved this bookshelf from Pottery Barn Kids -
But retailing at $649 plus an $80 shipping charge, this bookshelf is way out of my budget (not to mention the nearest Pottery Barn is on the other side of Canada from me).
So you know how this story goes - off to the lumber store.
$120 in lumber and a few hours of building later, solid wood library cubby shelf is mine!
I decided to make my shelf 3x3 to a full 48" wide to mazimize board cuts, and I love how much stuff I can store in it. I also love the square shape and the 9 cubbies instead of three. If anyone out there would want the two cubby wide version, just let me know in the comments.
It's hard to see in this extreme low light picture (I live in Alaska - we won't see real sun for a couple of months), but I also used gold toned hardware with the gray. I love it.
